SINGLE & RARE ASTRONAUT AUTOGRAPHS
GENE CERNAN

Home by Christmas

This famous photo was taken aboard the Apollo XVII command module America in December, 1972 as the final Apollo flight was embarking from Earth for what was to become the longest and most successful lunar mission to the Taurus-Littrow region. It has been called the "most significant photo of the 20th Century", the African and Antarctic continents plainly visible. It was summer in the Southern hemisphere, and winter in the North. Apollo 17 was the only mission to view the Earth in this full phase, and even modern weather satellites cannot duplicate this extreme southern view, as they are in equatorial orbits. 20x20 image, 27x27 framed.

Gene has signed this with a new style signature designed to prolong his arthritic wrist, but this is the first and (currently) only item featuring the new style. See HERE , HERE and HERE.

Price: $495
