Autographed by Gene Cernan
Only available framed
This famous photo was taken aboard the Apollo XVII command module America in December, 1972 as the final Apollo flight was embarking from Earth for what was to become the longest and most successful mission to the Moon's Taurus-Littrow region. It has been called the "most significant photo of the 20th Century". This is the only human-witnessed full Earth, the African and Antarctic continents plainly visible. It was summer in the Southern hemisphere, and winter in the North. Apollo 17 was the only mission to view the Earth in this full phase, and even modern weather satellites cannot duplicate this extreme southern view, as they are in equatorial orbits.
It is double matted and framed in a heavy 1 1/2" wide glossy black anodized (not painted) black frame, with sturdy, UV fade-protecting plexiglas, and ready to hang.
An impressive piece for home, office, or boardroom.
